Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

Time to start blogging again.  I took most of October off after the marathon to recover.  I had terrible issues with muscle cramps, the same problem I had last spring.  I realized it was brought on by a medication I took for my sinuses in February and again right before the marathon.  Worked through that then was sick for a month in December/January.  I'm finally feeling better and think I might be able to really train again.  I hope this year is better than last year.  It's not starting well, but last year was so bad that this year is bound to be better.

Melanie and I ran 8 miles outside in about 20 degrees.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.  I ran about a 7:08 average pace.  Then we hit the treadmils at Gold's Gym.  I did 7 x 1 mile @ 6:15 pace with 55 sec standing recovery between.  I woke up so tired and felt like I was just on autopilot.

This next part will either be funny or too much information for some people:  When I came in from my 8 miles outside and took my long  pants off I saw I had blood on my light blue shorts.  I thought, "I'm not going to quit my run because I'm bleeding.  I ran down the canyon last summer with blood all over these same shorts and that turned out fine."  So I hopped on the treadmill and started running.  Two ladies came up to me at different times to tell me I had a problem.  It wasn't until a mile or so after the first lady came up to me that I realized I had another pair of shorts in my bag I could have put on, on well.  By that time I only had a few miles left and didn't want to ruin my intervals with minimal rest to change my shorts.  This is why black shorts are best.
