Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

I ran the Hale Center Theater 10K that I think was really only 6 miles.  Still my time was not impressive.  I didn't warm up much so the first two miles felt too fast.  Then Marie got ahead of me on the downhill and she's such a good uphill runner and I knew I wouldn't catch her going up.  I sort of gave up on beating her and took second.  I won some tickets to the plays which was nice.

I could feel the effects of the three cupcakes I ate the night before at our Halloween party and think I need to go back to eating more healthy.  I really watched what I ate the 6 weekks before the St. Geroge Marathon and, although I didn't lose any weight because I hate to be hungry and still ate a lot, I felt good because of it.  Sunday at dinner my cousin said she's thinking about not eating any sweets for the month of November.  I think that sounds like a good idea.  I'm not a candy eater, but I really love my home made baked goods.

My whole body also feels a little out of wack, like I'm tight everywhere.  I don't feel as bad as I did a couple of weeks ago, but I'm still not 100%.  I think I need to do some more work on that to get everything working well again.

Is this a race report or a poor diet report? Just kidding. I think your time is stellar.

congrats on the race. The tickets are awesome, if you like plays that is.

Hi Julie!! way to tough it out. I heard the course wasn't spectacular!! how your brothers' kids doing? I wrote you a PM about it.

Burt - I suppose this was a poor diet report as there wasn't much to say about the race.

Dragonvulture - I do like plays, but mostly I wanted to be sure to get a date every once in a while with my husband. Somehow my boys think they're going to each get a turn going with me though, so we'll see what happens.

Julie C - I didn't see another message from you. I'll send you an update. The twins are doing great. My brother and sister-in-law said you were there favorite nurse.

Like I was recently told...first race back is a rustbuster. Takes a while to get the system running again after a marathon. Great time really!
