Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

14 miles with Amanda, Desiree and Melanie B.  We ran from the Utah Valley Marathon start in Wellsburg down the canyon.  I left my car at Vivian Park and stopped there while they kept running.  We started out what felt fast for me, around 7 min pace.  After 6 miles I thought I wasn't going to be able to keep up, but we slowed down some and I somehow got feeling better.  I felt pretty good the last 4 miles.  Avg 7:20 pace. 7:08, 6:49, 6:57, 7:08, 7:07, 7:39 (hills), 7:53(hills), 7:16, 7:24, 7:32, 7:33(.65 - accidentally hit the lap button), 7:22, 7:32, 7:29 (.42)

The new Utah Valley course is harder through the miles around Deer Creek (6 through 9) than I thought it would be.  I thought it would be flat because you're going around the lake, but the road really goes up and down there.

I think if I ran a 1/2 marathon right now I would be lucky to run a 1:30 and be under 7 min miles.  If I ran a marathon I would be lucky to finish without walking the last 6 miles.

I bet you would do better Julie in those races, we did have snow and 20 mph winds!! Good job keeping with the pack.
