Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

I woke up feeling a lot better this morning.  Ran 10 miles with my 5 year old daughter in the running stroller.  Avg 7:48 pace.  We headed up Provo Canyon but turned around early and headed back the other way on the trail when we encountered an animal.  At first I thought it might be a small bear on the path ahead of us.  Of course a baby bear is usually accompanied by a mother bear so I stopped.  After a few seconds I realized it was not a bear, but a dog, that looked a lot like a baby bear from my distance and angle.  My daughter said, "Can we turn around?"  So we turned around.  We spent a mile talking about the dog, then 5 miles later she said, "Are you still thinking about the dog?"  Apparently she was.

What a cute story. And I liked your story yesterday about visiting your dad. Anyway, I'm quite embarrassed that you ran at a 7:48 pace for 10 miles while pushing a stroller with a 5 year old in it. I don't think I could do that going downhill.

You and me both Burt! haha! That is an amazing pace with no stroller!

Marie was biking up the canyon yesterday with her kids and saw a huge beaver. Maybe that's what it was. Glad you are feeling better. I don't know anyone else that could average sub-8s pushing a 5 year old in a jogging stroller up/down the canyon. And your five year old is as tall as a 7 yr old :)! You rock!
