Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

Met Melody and Melanie for a run up/down South Fork.  We ran up four miles then turned around.  I couldn't keep up on the way up.  I jokingly said I was going to sit down on the side of the road and cry.  On the way down I couldn't keep up either.  It was more like I felt like I would be pushing it to keep up and pushing it would only make my problems worse.  My left calf and hamstring both hurt and felt tight.  I stopped to stretch.  Josse and Rebecca drove by on their way back up to pick up a car they left at the park there earlier.  I talked to them for a minute.  When I got back to my car at mile 8 I stopped.  Melody and Melanie had run another mile down past the car to get 10 in.  I stretched and waited for them to come back.

Later that day I decided I'm not going to do Utah Valley.  I felt a huge relief.  I'm not in shape to run a marathon well and I don't want to keep stressing out about it.

I like your plan - get healthy and hungry to push hard for St G. - that's the big goal anyways. You'll be ready to rock and roll in no time.

And you've got the Spartan Race to worry about. That's top priority.
