Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

Melanie and I ran Suncrest.  I felt even worse doing it than I did the week before and didn't even go all the way to the top.  Avg 7:38 pace.

I started having female problems in November, spotting between my periods quite a bit.  In January it got worse and towards the end of February I realized I had been bleeding mostly like a regular period for over a month.  I scheduled an apointment to take my IUD out hoping that would help, but had to wait almost two weeks to get that done.

Got the IUD out this day.  Unfortunately it didn't stop my bleeding, it only made it worse.

This was the day I realized something was really wrong with me!

~Melanie, Kim and I met at Gold’s Gym to run up by the temple and over along the Murdock trail south until we hit 10 miles and back to the gym.  My legs felt even more tired than the week before right from the start.  I kept falling behind and catching up at the stops.  Finally after about 7 miles I said, “Something is wrong with me.”  Melanie said something about me bleeding so much and Kim suggested I might have low iron.  I had wondered if the bleeding was an issue, but hadn’t thought about taking iron supplements.  I struggled on my way back to the gym.  It felt like the end of a horrible marathon.  I stopped every two miles for a while and went into a bathroom to change my tampon because I was bleeding through it and all over my pants that were fortunately black.  Soon I was stopping every mile and I walked a little at mile 17 and felt like I was going to cry.  Then I decided to just finish and ran to mile 19 before deciding to quit.  I started to walk the last mile, but it was taking too long so I ran another ½ mile to the gym.
