Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

I ran the Wasatch Wellness Run 10K in 42:46, avg 6:53 pace.  I ran a 5.5 mile warm-up over to the race and was pleased I only had to stop and stretch once at mile 1.  I haven't been able to do that all year.

I feel like I'm having a hard time pushing myself.  I get going and just like to be comfortable.  I really need to snap out of it.

On the bright side, there wasn't much competition so my 6:53 pace allowed me to win the race and bring home $100.  My kids and husband all did the race.  We got entries from Brent's work.  We won several gift certificates in the drawing and had a fun time there together.

12 miles.  Met Melanie at Will's Pit Stop 2 miles from the canyon and ran 2+ miles to the BYU track for a speed workout.  I was encouraged that my leg felt good the whole first mile of the warm up and I didn't have to stretch until 1.25 miles and I made it another mile to the track just fine.

We ran 8 x 800 meters with 400 meter recovery.  We also stopped and stood there, walking around for about 30 sec after each one before the 400 meter jog.  1st felt terrible 2:59, 2nd felt even worse as my leg ached 2:59 and I felt like I was going to throw up too.  3rd less aching leg but still felt like I was going to throw up 3:00.  4th wasn't as bad and I pulled out another 2:59, 5th I actually felt better than #2 and #3, 2:58, 5th I felt like I was finally in a rhythm 2:59, 6th feeling the same 2:59, 7th another 2:59, and 8th another 2:59.

As we finished the workout Melanie said she hates the track.  I said, "Now you know how I feel about Suncrest.  I think you feel about the track the way I feel about Suncrest."

11 miles on Suncrest.  Met Melanie and ran 4.5 miles up Suncrest.  I struggled more starting this run.  I knew I should have stretched and rubbed out my tight spots better after Tuesday.  I had to stop at mile .5 and mile 2 because of my aching leg.  That got feeling good, but my plantar started hurting at mile 4 and I stopped again to stretch and rub out the spot I thought was causing that.  My average when I turned around was about 8:40 pace, I turned around at mile 4.5 when I saw Melanie coming down.  I ran in the low 6's coming down and ended with a 7:23 pace for the 9 miles.  Then we cooled down 2 miles at 7:12 pace.
