Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

4 miles avg 7:07 pace.  Sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups.  I didn't do these very well last week.

Met Melody and Emily at the BYU track for intervals.  5 x 1200 m 4:22, 4:26, 4:25, 4:28, 4:23.  I didn't want to do the last one, but Melody and Emily "made me do it" and I was glad they did.  They ran one my pace and it was nice to be by someone on the track instead of way behind.

22 miles avg 7:15 pace.  I ran the first 16 with Melanie B and the last 6 with my husband on his bike.  Up/down Provo Canyon both times.  I felt more tired today than the last several Saturday's.  I didn't sleep enough last week.

10 miles avg 7:03 pace with my husband on his bike.  I felt a little better than yesterday, but still hurt more than I should have for the pace I was running.

10 miles avg 6:55 pace.  I ran faster and felt a lot better than I did Tuesday.  I had a little more sleep the last few days, which was nice.  I was really busy with bookkeeping trying to get things done for people before April 15th, so I sat at my desk almost all day Mon and Tues, and a little in the morning Wednesday.  Wednesday afternoon I rewarded myself by doing yard work.  I got my boys to  help me move a bush that I decided was too close to the house.  Hopefully it will live.  We also sprayed weeds.

4 miles avg 7:05 pace. The kids had a sleepover at their Grandma Esplin's house with their cousins because it's spring break. I went to bed at 11:00 p.m. and didn't get out of bed until 9:45 a.m. I woke up several times after about 7:00 a.m. but couldn't make myself get up until then. I think my allergy medication makes me drowsy. Once I get going I'm fine, but it's sure hard to get up.

23 miles avg 7:01 pace.  My husband came with me on his bike for the first 17 miles then he needed to take  my son to baseball practice.  We went up/down Provo Canyon and into South Fork.  As we got close to the house at mile 17 I wanted to be done.  I ran a little too fast coming down the canyon for several miles and was starting to feel it.  My pace was 7:00 average at this point.  I headed back up the canyon for another 6 miles though and managed to keep my pace about the same as I finished with a 7:01 average.  It was good to be done.  Three weeks to my next marathon.

4 miles avg 7:23 pace.  Did sit-up, push-ups etc. while watching some of the Boston Marathon on TV.  I had fun getting text messages for some of my friends running it.

10 miles avg 6:45 pace.  I did bookkeeping for too long after my kids left for school.  All of the sudden I relalized I had to leave quickly and run really fast to get in 10 miles before my daughter got off the kindergarten bus.  It was cold and raining.

18 miles avg 7:16 pace.  My husband came with me on his bike for 14 miles and I did the last four alone.  He had to hurry to get my son to his baseball game and I met them there.  We had one baseball game and three soccer games this day.  We literally went from game to game all day eating lunch at Subway in the middle.  It was our first really hot Saturday and I forgot sunscreen and got burned.  Yuck!

14 miles with Melanie B and 6 of it with Josse.  We ran South on the running trail.  I thought it would be good to do some slight uphill towards the end since the Provo Marathon is like that.  Avg 7:08 pace
