Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

I got some new shoes and they rubbed a huge blister on the side of my heal.  I've had this shoe before, so I don't understand what's going on.  I was going to go 10, but stopped at 9 because the blister hurt so bad.  I'm taking them back to the store.  I just hope the blister heals enough so I can do my long run Saturday without being in a lot of pain.  Right now I can't wear any shoes.

ouch! sorry about the blister. what shoes were you in?

I got new Asics. I've had this kind twice before and both times I wore a hole in the fabric on that side of my heal. By the time it really bothered me it was about time to throw them away anyway. I took this new pair back to the store. I'm going back to Nikes because they have more cushion around the heal part.

Are you doing Top of Utah?

no fun. i had a similar issue with asics just two weeks out from boston a couple of years ago. both feet. very painful. i am sorry for the setback and i hope it heals up quickly.

as for top of utah - i think so. i am going to wait and see how the next couple of weeks go. if i can get back into a good training groove, i am definitely going to do it. the race is just too fun to miss out on :)

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's had that problem. Of all the things that can go wrong, to have a flesh wound take me out is rediculous. A blister seems like such a "beginner" problem.

It sounds like I'll see you at Top of Utah. It would be fun to run more of the race together this year. Right now I have no idea what pace I'm going to try. I'll have to see how the next 6 weeks go too.

i would love to run with you this year. you have been running strong since your comeback and i think you are in for a great race. sub-3. it's your year!

sorry about the continued blister trouble. the small break and cross training may actually be beneficial though. you have proven that your fitness comes back quickly, and a few days out won't even affect it at all.
