Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

10 miles.  Met Melanie, Melody, Emily and Rebecca at the BYU track for a workout.  8 x 800 meters with 400 meter recovery.  2:54, 2:54, 2:56, 2:56, 2:56, 2:57, 2:56, 2:57.  Allergies still bothering me.  I doubled up on my one medication and added another so by the end of the day I wasn't feeling quite as bad.

that stinks about your allergies but you still rocked the workout. My daughter's allergies are so hard to hear-- sniffle, cough, sneeze. It just sounds so uncomfortable. I am amazed you can run with them!! my daughter doesn't like to take the meds so she has a hard time with the exercise.

quick question.. are you running these with a stop watch or garmin?? basically I want to do them right. It would be best to use a stop watch right?? and clock the two laps exactly rather than the garmin that always reads over and gives you faster times.

Julie - I am basically using a stop watch. I have one of my larger windows on my garmin set at "lap time." I start the watch during my warm-up and hit the lap button when I cross the start line and again when I cross it at the end. I look at the lap time that flashes up in the little box when you hit the lap button. This lap time is also recorded in the history to look up later. I like doing it this way because I can look down at 400 meters and easily see what time it is to know if I'm too fast or too slow etc. Also this way if I never stop the watch then I don't make the mistake of starting it when I stop and stopping it when I start etc. I've made that mistake before when I tired to stop it each time. Good luck.
