Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

Melanie and I decided to run the dirt road that goes south from Hope Camp Ground near Squaw Peak.  Kim and Jane were running in Provo at the same time too and decided to come with us.  The camp ground is 5 miles from the turn off the Provo Canyon highway.  We started driving up but the road was closed.  It closed on Nov 1st.  We thought we might have driven a couple of miles and started running up the road.  Well it turned out we had only driven .7 of the 5 miles.  We finally got to the road we wanted to run on, after 3.5 miles at an exhausting 9 min pace, stopping every mile to rest, etc.  I'm not good on hills and had a hard time keeping up.  We ran about a 1/2 mile on the dirt road, which was still very uphill before decidinig to run down to where our other cars were parked by Will's Pit Stop.

They closed off Squaw Peak? That climb is a beast! Nice run.

We had a Squaw Peak here in the valley, but somebody thought it was too offensive of a name, so they changed it to Piestewa Peak, because she is a Native American war hero that died in Afghanistan.
