Long-Term Running Goals:

I love to run!  I want to feel good and run for a very long time.

Personal:

My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7.  Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids.  I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home.  For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby.  Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.

I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18.  Now I train with the girl who broke my record.  I love the marathon and half marathon.   Long runs are what keep me from going crazy.

14 miles up/down Provo Canyon with Melanie, Kim, Emily and Melody.  About a mile from Vivian Park, our turn-around spot, we realized we had a sub 7 min pace going UP the canyon! Never done that before.  Stopped to stretch and turn around then quickly realized we were running up with a nice tail wind.  Our first couple of miles back were pretty windy, then it died down.  Avg up 6:58, avg down 6:34 pace, overall avg 6:46 pace.  I've done some out/back 10 milers in the 6:40's but never 14 before.  Felt good, but tired at the end.  Then we iced in the river.  It wasn't too bad.  Emily only lasted with her feet in for about 1 min.  They were bare.  The rest of us stayed in for about 4 min.  The key to icing "comfortably" is wearing socks.

That is a great workout. Yes, its all in the toes for comfort when taking an ice bath. I aways peek my toes out of the water:)

great run and great tip about the socks, although you will never find me sitting in a river.

Well, if it isn't the cream of the crop in here. allie will never be found sitting in a river because she is afraid of pond scum.

Thanks for the good run. You and melanie are an inspiration!

I definitely prefer shoes+socks to bare feet.
