2012 St. George Marathon 2:54:39 Long-Term Running Goals: I love to run! I want to feel good and run for a very long time. Personal: My husband Brent and I live in Orem with our three kids ages 12, 10 & 7. Brent is a Marriage and Family Therapist and I'm at home with the kids. I used to be a CPA, but now I just do a little bookkeeping from home. For a lot of years running a marathon was something I did to get back in shape after having a baby. Just finishing was accomplishment enough, now I want to finish faster.
I ran the St. George Marathon in 3:18 when I was 18 and set a record for my age division 15-18. Now I train with the girl who broke my record. I love the marathon and half marathon. Long runs are what keep me from going crazy. Favorite Blogs: |

| 10 miles. Met Melody and Emily at the BYU track. 4 x 1 mile repeats with 1/2 mile recovery, 5:56, 5:58, 6:00, 5:58. I felt good on the first one, but half way through the second one I didn't think I would do 4 anywhere close to that pace. On the last one I told myself I could quit after 800 meters if I wanted. I had to do that to get myself to start it. I figured I could do 800 meters and that was better than nothing. Then I stuck it out and finished the mile anyway. | Comments(1) |

4 miles alone avg 7:11 pace. Then 3 miles with my sister visiting from Oregon avg 9:30 pace. When we got about 1/2 mile away from home my sister was breathing so hard she said her lungs were burning. I said, "Maybe we should slow down," but as I was saying this I thought, "I don't think it's possible to run much slower. If we slow down, we'll be walking." We had a good laugh later when she told our other sister how tired she was and how I didn't seem to be breathing at all. I couldn't help but tell her what I was thinking when I said, "Maybe we should slow down." I was laughing so hard I could hardly get the words out. She being a great sport, had a good laugh at it too.
This sister Kellly Nelson, is so suportive of my running and always says how proud she is when I have a good race. I'm way proud of her too. She just got a NOVEL PUBLISHED! "The Keeper's Calling" and you can buy it at Deserret Book, on Amazon.com, or order it at any Barns & Noble. It's a way good story and appeals to people of all ages. It's book 1 of 3 and the other two are coming out later this year. Book 1 is really good and books 2 and 3 are so good you can't set them down.

Ran with Melody, 3 mile warm-up, 5 mile loop avg 6:44 pace, 1 mile slower, 5 mile loop avg 6:39 pace, 3 mile cool-down.
We set our clothes & water on a picnic table at the park where the running path crosses Geneva Road. That's where we started/ended our loops. When we finished Melody's jacket was gone and my shirt was still there. I guess the thief didn't like my shirt as much as her jacket. It would also have to be a very small thief, or someone stealing clothes for their teenage daughter. | Add Comment |
